Midland Make a Difference Scholarships

College Scholarship Application

Midland Credit Union is awarding $5,000 in total scholarships in 2026. These scholarships consist of:

  • (2) $500 scholarships for students entering their first year of college or vocational school
  • (1) $500 scholarship for students continuing their undergraduate degree or 2nd year of vocational studies
  • (1) $1,000 scholarship for students entering their first year of college or vocational school
  • (1) $1,000 scholarship for students continuing their undergraduate degree or 2nd year of vocational studies
  • (1) $1,500 scholarship for students entering their first year of college or vocational school.


Scholarship funds can be used for tuition, room and board, books, and other educational expenses. Entries must be submitted no later than April 24, 2026. We look forward to your submission!

SCHOLARSHIP ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS & APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Applicant must be a member of Midland Credit Union or have a parent/guardian who is a member of Midland Credit Union.
  2. Membership Number must be provided on the application of the applicant or parent/guardian.
  3. Applicant must be entering or attending a vocational, technical, community college or 4-year college/university.
  4. Prior scholarship recipients and family members of Midland Credit Union employees are not eligible.
  5. Past recipients are not eligible for renewal scholarship awards.
  6. Applicant is required to write an essay of approximately 300-500 words on the following topic:

“How do you think financial literacy impacts a student’s ability to succeed academically and personally? Do you feel that you are sufficiently literate when it comes to your own knowledge of finances and if not, how do you plan to gain that knowledge?”

**Eligible counties in Iowa: Adair, Adams, Audubon, Boone, Cass, Dallas, Guthrie, Harrison, Henry, Jasper, Keokuk, Louisa, Madison, Mahaska, Marion, Mills, Montgomery, Polk, Pottawattamie, Shelby, Story, Union, Warren, and Washington.

Before completing the form below, please read the instructions carefully. Scholarship submissions will be reviewed anonymously by an independent committee and announced at the beginning of May. All information given on this application will be kept confidential. Scholarship recipients will be contacted directly and required to submit a photo to be used for various print and electronic media.
